Steak 48 Makes its Anticipated Debut


HOUSTON (June 2016) – Jeffrey and Michael Mastro – the brothers behind the wildly popular Steak 44 – will soon open Steak 48 ( in Houston at River Oaks District (4444 Westheimer Road).

Not just another steakhouse, Steak 48 is a warm, contemporary steakhouse featuring responsibly farmed prime steaks hand cut in house and wet aged for 28 days by the master butcher; a raw bar and extensive fresh seafood selection including Hawaiian poke, whole king crab cluster, and an ahi filet; unique appetizers such as fresh burrata and fried deviled eggs; and impressive side dishes like a double baked truffle potato, asparagus fries and corn crème brûlée. The beverage program includes classic cocktails and an extensive wine list.

The name Steak 48 is a nod to its roots in Arizona – the 48th state admitted to the Union. Located at River Oaks District on the corner of Westheimer Road and Westcreek Lane in a 13,700-square foot two-story space, the next-generation Steak 48 is larger in size than its
Arizona counterpart and will include some Texas spins on the menu. Executive Chef Jeff Taylor is heading the charge on culinary production and operations in Houston and will work closely with the Phoenix-based team.

When searching for a venue, River Oaks District was an obvious choice. “We are excited to be a part of the continued growth and development happening in Houston. We plan to dive in head first with getting to know our neighbors and welcoming the community to experience Steak 48,” said Oliver Badgio, Senior Vice President of the brand.

Jeffrey, Michael and their father Dennis Mastro along with their partner Scott Troilo are the founders and creators of several well-known restaurant concepts including Mastro’s Steakhouse and Mastro’s Ocean Club, which they sold in 2007. They opened a new concept, Dominick’s Steakhouse, in Scottsdale in October 2011, followed by Steak 44 in April 2014.

Like Steak 44 – whose name stems from its location on 44th Street in Phoenix – Steak 48 will feature steaks responsibly farmed in the U.S. and will offer an impressive fresh fish selection responsibly sourced from sustainable fisheries. Other tenets of the concept will include exceptional personal service and an upscale, energetic ambiance, with a collection of unique separate dining rooms that offer a host of options tailored to guests’ specific needs.

In addition to a see-and-be-seen bar and elevated bar dining area overlooking the high energy action, Steak 48 is home to a variety of intimate spaces offering multiple experiences for guests, including two warm and open North and South Vista dining rooms, accented on the west wall of both rooms; an East Dining Room located upstairs for up to 60 guests and for up to 14 guests in the center of the with a view of the kitchen; and a light and airy Kitchen Dining Room with fireplace, options are available to with features including a private bar, multiple ports for state of the art AV needs, a fireplace, a 50” LED TV, custom drapes for visual privacy, and a second story garden terrace.

Steak 48 is located at River Oaks District on the corner of Westheimer Road at Westcreek Lane and is open for dinner daily at 4:00 PM in the bar and from 5:00 PM – 10:00 PM Sunday through Thursday and 5:00 PM to 11:00 PM on Friday and Saturday.
